__________________________________________________ Oct 2005 Under 21 City Championship Final. Played at Ballinlough Sunday 23rd October. Blackrock 3 --- 8 Douglas 2 --- 11. This was a really exciting game between two very committed sides which kept the huge crowd interested from the start to finish, and what a finish! Blackrock started at a frenetic pace, David Coughlan had the ball in the net within a minute, while Paul O'Sullivan added a point from a free. A number of squandered chances then cost the Rockies dearly as a surprised Douglas team fought back. The Moylan brothers, Stephen with points and James with an opportunist goal put Douglas ahead, which lead they held at half time…1 --- 5 to 1 --- 4. Paul O'Sullivan had scored all four points for the Rockies. O'Sullivan was again on target within two minutes of the resumption when he banged home a goal. Stephen Moylan scored two fine points for Douglas to level the scores as each side enjoyed periods of dominance. A fine point from a free by Mark Russell. A long ball from JP Carroll was doubled to the net by Eric Hegarty to put Blackrock in the driving seat mid way through. Barry Fitzgerald scored a fine point for Douglas and Stephen Moylan was pulled down in the square, Mark Harrington added a goal from the penalty. Level again with less than five minutes in it, excitement mounted. In the run in only James Moylan and David Coughlan scored points despite easy scores being missed on both sides. For Blackrock Mark Russell, Chris Murphy, Paul O'Sullivan and Richard Curtin stood out, while the Moylan brothers, David O'Connor and Barry Fitzgerald had a great game. Replay. Sunday 30th October Pairc Ui Chaoimh 1.15.
