Blackrock U-15 Against Sarsfields on April 9th 2005 |
|
Under
15 League. Blackrock
2 --- 10 Sarsfields 2 --- 4. This
game pitted two very experienced panels against each other in Church Road last
Saturday afternoon April 9th. Playing with the wind Sars started at a whirlwind
tempo and David White along with Daniel Roche put the Blackrock defence under
immense pressure. However a tenacious approach from the Rockies defence with
Brian Hartnett, Sean Long and Richard Dineen excelling kept scores to a minimum.
Tadhg O’Leary grabbed a goal for Sars to put the Glanmire side ahead at the
interval by just 1 --- 2 to a late opportunist Blackrock goal from Olan
Kelleher. The
Rockies piled on the pressure in the second half. Simon Zebo banged in a goal
following a fine pass from Stephen McCarthy early on and with their forwards
gaining control, the points kept coming. Darren Loftus had a fine solid outing
at centre forward and was pivotal to the growing Rocky dominance in this sector.
With
Robert Creagh in goal back to his very best and Raymond Norberg and Ciaran
O’Shaughnessy hurling well, the Blackrock side shut up shop. Sarsfields, true
to spirit, again fought back in the final quarter, but could only manage a
second goal from Tadhg O’Leary and a point. Ciaran O’Herlihy at centre back
broke up attack after attack, while Captain Patrick Parfrey was an inspiration
at centre field although Thomas Crowley of Sars also played well in this sector
throughout the game.
