Blackrock U-15 Against Douglas on April 16th 2005

Under 15 League. Saturday 16th April.

Blackrock  5 --- 13                Douglas 5 --- 3

Played at Church Road this under 15 league game looked over at half time when Blackrock, aided by the wind led by 2 --- 7 to a point. Simon Zebo had scored a goal and five points while Ciaran O’Herlihy at centre back and Richard Dineen for the Rockies had closed off the Douglas attack. David Hill and Patrick Parfrey dominated proceedings at midfield for Blackrock.

In the second half Douglas took the game to the Rockies and while Blackrock never looked like losing the match, the scores came thick and fast. In all a total of 8 goals were conceded by both defences in this period. James O’Sullivan of Douglas claimed a hat-trick while an excellent Mark Collins added the other two. The Douglas defence also improved with Paul Clarke proving very effective in this period.

In response, Robert Waters and Patrick McCarthy contributed one goal each as the Rockies fought back in what turned out to be a very enjoyable free flowing hurling match under the sensible approach and control of referee Teddy O’Donovan.

In the final analysis, the ability of the Rockies to take points ensured their victory. Fearless Eoghan Buckley showed incredible determination as he repeatedly surged into the Douglas defence, he finished with a personal tally of 1 --- 3, while Simon Zebo added further points. Despite the concession of five goals Blackrock keeper Robert Creagh brought off a string of outstanding saves during the game.
