Super Leagues for those born in 2002 Announcing the 2008 Superleagues for 6 year olds! The Super Leagues for boys born in 2002 will begin on Saturday 13th September next. These will consist of a number of teams chosen from the boys in the coaching group led by Allan Russell playing a series of games over 3 weeks. As we wish to ensure that the teams are selected from those boys who are interested in playing and will turn up, we are asking all those interested to complete the form ( click here for form ) and hand it to one of the coaches on Saturday 30th August or Saturday 6th September for inclusion in the teams. These will be fun super leagues where everyone plays and each boy who participates will receive a special Blackrock 2008 Super League medal to start his Super League medal collection. (A medal is awarded each year to boys who participate in the Super Leagues in Blackrock).

"The extraordinary skill levels of the youngsters is very impressive and it is a great credit to their coaches and mentors that have worked with them to develop their skill work and hurling talents", declared Ray. "They are not afraid to go and win the ball and get their shot in" stated Ray, "its amazing they are so committed at such as a young age", he continued. These Leagues have been played at Blackrock for many years having continued to carry on the wonderful traditions of the Blackrock Street Leagues of the 50s, 60s and 70s in the area, through which most of the Blackrock hurlers developed their hurling talents.
